Color Correcting

I’m currently using Magic Bullet Looks in Premiere Pro CS4 to color correct some footage, and I’m having a hard time getting my output to match what I see in Premiere. I received some instructions from the manufacturer on how to avoid this, but we’ll see if it works. I have to export the whole movie out first before I can compress it for the web, and since it has 25 minutes to go (as of this writing), I thought I’d just blog about how much I want this to work. ‘Cause if it does work, the video will look awesome. And even more important, the potential for awesome-looking videos will be great.

Here’s hoping that in (now) 23 minutes, the video exports awesome.

San Jose 48 Hour Film Project 2009

Well, here I am again, on the brink of starting yet another 48 Hour Film Project.  This year’s entry will mark the 5th movie I’ve worked on for these competitions.  I can’t believe it… 5?!

Seems like not too long ago when we pulled Musical or Western as our genre and ended up making Vestern: A Western in the San Francisco competitions in 2006.  The following year was an interesting one.  In 2007, we took part in both the San Francisco and (brand new) San Jose projects.  We churned out Jackson Reynolds P.I. (Detective/Cop) and followed it up with Love Spread (Romance).  All three of these films won Audience Favorite awards, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled.  Last year, in 2008, we only participated in the San Jose project, as working on two a year was a little tough, and having the drive to San Francisco was a definite setback.  But we were definitely happy with our final product, Bodbrane and the Wizard of Spas (Fantasy).

We’ve encountered some challenges throughout the years, and in my opinion have made some pretty cool movies.  We do have a lot of areas where we can improve, and so I’m hoping that we are really able to shine this year.  I know the competition has grown immensely as well, and there are a great number of fantastic movies being made out there.  So we definitely need to step it up this time around.

One thing that remains the same every year is that it’s a great learning experience.  Undoubtedly, we’ll come across a new set of challenges and need to work through them.  At least it’s always fun!  Check back here in a couple days for an update with our next 48 Hour Film Project!

Poopie Diaper

Just the other day, I was wondering if I had this video uploaded anywhere.  I used to have it on YouTube, but it got flagged for being “inappropriate”.  HA!  It then was taken down.  Oh well, I ended up coming across it tonight on MySpace.  You know, MySpace?  It’s like Facebook, but, well, you get the idea.  Anyway, I always thought the video was pretty darn cute.  So here it is!

Scottish Apples and Greetings

This is my first HD upload to Vimeo, an HD video site that I’ve known about for a while now, but only just recently joined.  Flickr allows HD uploads, but only up to 90 seconds.  And YouTube will accept HD as well.  But something about Vimeo’s site is simple to use and fun to get lost in.  For now, I’m sure I’ll be using all three for HD videos.

And now, a short clip from Scotland:

Vote for My Lowes Video!

So I entered a contest on YouTube sponsored by Lowes and my video made the final voting round!  The prize is a lawn care package.  If you are reading this, would you please be so kind as to vote for my video?  Oh pretty please!  I’ve made some simple instructions on how to vote:

1) First, you need a YouTube account, and you need to be signed in.  Please do that first.  Then, go to this link:

http://www.youtube.com/user/lowes

Once there, you’ll see this page:

lowes01

2) Click on the “Vote” button.

You’ll then see this page:

lowes02

3) First, click on the “Category” dropdown and select the “Perfect Lawn & Therapy” category.  Then click “Go”.

You’ll then be brough to my video’s page:

lowes03

4) Make sure to select my video by clicking on it.  You’ll see that it’s titled, “Lowes Contest Entry – Perfect”.  After click on the thumbnail, it will start playing in the main video window.  You can then click on the green, “Thumbs Up” to vote for my video!

If you’re feeling saucy, feel free to vote the other videos with “Thumbs Down”.  Evelyn felt bad about doing that, so only the evil should apply. ;)

I don’t think that voting more than once per day will do anything extra, so no need to vote over and over again in the same day.  The voting lasts for a while so if you could log in each day and vote for my video, that’d be great!

Thank you so much!!

Come on… I know you want to see it too.  If anything, just so you can see how bad Lorenzo Lamas will be acting. ;)
