San Jose 48 Hour Film Project 2009

Well, here I am again, on the brink of starting yet another 48 Hour Film Project.  This year’s entry will mark the 5th movie I’ve worked on for these competitions.  I can’t believe it… 5?!

Seems like not too long ago when we pulled Musical or Western as our genre and ended up making Vestern: A Western in the San Francisco competitions in 2006.  The following year was an interesting one.  In 2007, we took part in both the San Francisco and (brand new) San Jose projects.  We churned out Jackson Reynolds P.I. (Detective/Cop) and followed it up with Love Spread (Romance).  All three of these films won Audience Favorite awards, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled.  Last year, in 2008, we only participated in the San Jose project, as working on two a year was a little tough, and having the drive to San Francisco was a definite setback.  But we were definitely happy with our final product, Bodbrane and the Wizard of Spas (Fantasy).

We’ve encountered some challenges throughout the years, and in my opinion have made some pretty cool movies.  We do have a lot of areas where we can improve, and so I’m hoping that we are really able to shine this year.  I know the competition has grown immensely as well, and there are a great number of fantastic movies being made out there.  So we definitely need to step it up this time around.

One thing that remains the same every year is that it’s a great learning experience.  Undoubtedly, we’ll come across a new set of challenges and need to work through them.  At least it’s always fun!  Check back here in a couple days for an update with our next 48 Hour Film Project!
